Reality TV..To Be or Not To Be...Scripted?

From The Real World in 1992, America's Next Top Model in 2003, Keeping Up with the Kardashians in 2007 and Dating Naked in 2014, it looks like we have a menu full of options. Reality TV went from "Omg did you see that!?", to "We've seen that way too many times already...". Modesty on television is simply a thing of the past. When Tyra Banks first introduced ANTM to viewers, I think we all felt a sense that "Oh, these girls are Plain Janes! I can easily be in her shoes' to Kim Kardashian getting her own TV show from rising to fame based off a sex tape. At this moment, we realized...sex not only sells, but it gets you a golden ticket to Hollywood! The most current issue with today's "reality TV" shows are that they are rolling out entirely too fast and appearing to be mostly scripted.

[Sarah tells Jason she doesn't think they'll work out...(Jason appears to brokenhearted). That same night Jason goes out on a date with Sarah's best friend Chelsea at the Flamingo Bar...well who would guess that on camera, Sarah shows right up on time to catch them shagged up together and you guessed it! A tossed martini glass here, weave over there and Jason is in a confessional telling us how he is so confused]- As you can see, the typical B.S.

Check out this guy Charlie Shaw's article about whether reality TV is scripted from the participants themselves! http://thoughtcatalog.com/charlie-shaw/2014/08/31-reality-tv-show-contestants-and-producers-answer-how-much-of-the-show-is-actually-scripted/

On A More Serious Note,

The way our generation is represented on these shows is not hopeful for our future. When will these reality TV stars with tasteless attitudes learn to change their demeanor and realize the world is shaking their heads in disbelief? When (if ever) will be able to decipher that what's syndicated is not fabricated?

P.S.- If any reality TV stars comes across this blog I want to tell you this and always remember it; we are laughing at you, not with you.

  1. I couldn't agree with you more. The extents that these people go to for fame is absolutely ridiculous nowadays. It just amazes me how its supposedly a "reality show" but its scripted, as if our daily reality is actually scripted. Good points btw !

  2. I with you on this one! I think what stood out to your post as well was the link you put! I didn't see all of it, but I was very surprised by a good number of them! Others, I'm not really surprised, especially the Voice. I knew there something more to their auditions, just wasn't particularly sure what.
